Pleasing novella about two societies in conflict on a planet. The city-dwellers are descendants of a violent prisoner colony, the villagers descend from pacifists exiled from Earth for being too peaceful. As you may guess, conflict ensues. The book is pretty much an example of how to do peaceful resistance: stick to your points, disobey, but be peaceful and do not fight. The other side only knows how to use force, and Le Guin claims that's just not going to work against peaceful people.

Behind the lecturing is a nice little story, set in a curious planet that isn't really explored that much; some of the weirder nature is used as a backdrop to give an exotic taste, but this isn't really about other planets.
