Viktoriaaninen Lontoo, taikuuden ja teatterin maailma — mikä voisi mennä pieleen? Ilmeisesti ainakin tunnelman luonti. Vähänkin useamman sivun lukeminen yhtäjaksoisesti alkoi puuduttaa. Aineksia olisi kyllä ollut: itsenäisyyttä tavoitteleva ura- ja perhenainen, ryysyistä rikkauksiin kohoava traaginen maalaispoika, veriveljien välisen jännitteen purkautuminen karuna eripurana, ja mitä vielä. Mutta hohhoijaa.
