Anarchism and Other Essays is a 1910 essay collection by Emma Goldman, first published by Mother Earth Publishing. The essays outline Goldman's anarchist views on a number of subjects, most notably the oppression of women and perceived shortcomings of first wave feminism, but also prisons, political violence, sexuality, religion, nationalism and art theory. Hippolyte Havel contributed a short biography of Goldman to the anthology. Anarkismin klassikoiden tuntemukseni on hävettävän huonoa, ja olen ryhtynyt korjaamaan tilannetta. Emma Goldmanin esseet ovat virkistävää luettavaa. Hän sanoo asiansa kiertelemättä, ja suurin osa kokoelman esseistä on edelleen hämmästyttävän ajankohtaisia, vaikka niiden ensijulkaisusta onkin ehtinyt kulua noin sata vuotta. Etenkin alkupään esseet Anarkismi ja mitä se todella tarkoittaa sekä Vähemmistöjen ja enemmistöjen vastakkainasettelu sykähdyttävät mieltä ja sydäntä. Loppupään esseistä etenkin naisten äänioikeutta ja emansipaatiota koskevat sen sijaan menivät minulta hiukan ohi, varmaan koska ne olivat melko tiukasti kiinni aikansa emansipatorisessa diskurssissa, jonka detaljeja en kovin hyvin tunne. Kaikkinensa hyvä esseekokoelma.
