Former gamer evaluates the state of gaming today, with anecdotes. Covers the broad spectrum of pen and paper to computer to live action and SCA.
I enjoyed the anecdotes, but felt there was a better story in here waiting to get out. By the end of the book, it was still imprisoned.
User Profile
At any given time, I am probably reading one book in paper form, another as an audio book, and another on an e-reader. I also keep an anthology or collection in my car, for those long waits. My average rating is between 3 and 4, because I try to seek out good books and authors. One goal is to read all the SF award winners and SF Masterworks. See my profile at Worlds Without End.
Finally, the "social media" info - I am a long-time reader, proud to have completed several summer reading programs as a kid. I recall reading more than 50 books one summer. When I'm not reading, you might find me gaming (board and role play) or working, either as a baseball umpire or with software.

Middle book of a series or trilogy. Started with a morose whimper, ended with a bang and its aftermath, but still the middle book. While I will probably read the next book in this series, I won't rush out of my way or stand in line to get it.

Yes, Dr. Craig, I finally read Moneyball. It wasn't as revolutionary to me as it was to you perhaps, because in the 80s I was one of those Bill James readers. This book was a good description of a sea change in baseball, and for that matter a good description of how to succeed in the stock market - find something that somebody else undervalues. Now I see that there is a movie coming out - looking forward to that and any sequel Michael Lewis chooses to write.

When I first read this I was only writing sporadic reviews. It has been said that this should be re-read after reading other culture novels. I intend to do so when I have time to read the whole series, because the first read didn't make a great impression on me.
