I read in both Finnish and English. I will post almost exclusively in English, though.

For fiction I'm a complete SFF junkie, at the moment on a webfiction trip. On the non-fiction side I read books relating to physiotherapy, archery, programming, and compilers, but I try keep a non-fiction book outside my core interest as bedtime reading.

Lately I have trouble reading long form fiction. 😱

Historiaa, valokuvia ja muistoja salmiakista.

This has been on my bedstand for a good while now, got stalled when I was hit by COVID. (Wear a mask! It didn't got away, re-infection can cause long-term issues of increasing severity!)

It's about the national candy of Finland, salmiac, or salty liquorice. A lovely mix of history of different manufacturers and brands, with remembrances and "eating recipies" mixed in, all tied up by photographs of candy and packaging.

Fun and quirky, but also very obviously written >20 years ago when you look at the casual racism and sexism mixed in. Trace amounts, but it's there. Back then no-one batted an eye, and "ment nothing by it".
