It was first performed on September 9, 1668, in the theatre of the Palais-Royal in Paris.

Hilpeä hupinäytelmä rikkaasta penninvenyttäjästä, joka on huolissaan vain rahoistaan mutta ei silti malta olla panematta kapuloita lastensa avioliittoaikeiden rattaisiin. Ei liikaa kohellusta mutta mukavasti nokkeluutta.
