The first volume of the four part Book of the New Sun was a really interesting read. I have heard lot of praise for Gene Wolfe's fiction, but for some reason he has never been a big thing in my circle of fantasy/scifi-reading friends. I have tried to read some other books by him but left them unfinished, perhaps because of their length. However, The Shadow of the Torturer really captured my attention and the world described intrigued me.

Can't wait for the opportunity to read the second volume.
