Anders reviewed Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn by Katie Anderson
Another book on leadership
4 stars
This took some time to read, not because the book would be challenging but more because I more generally lost interest in reading.
The book presents leadership lessons from the source of Lean: Toyota in Japan. The lessons feel somewhat self evident to someone who has been around the Lean manufacturing movement for some time, but the common misconceptions are highlighted in this book. The Japanese culture is made visible as a background from where concepts are borrowed. The book goes into both success and failure encountered, emphasizing the importance or learning and reflecting back on events.
I would recommend the book to anyone with leadership aspirations or affected by bad leadership regardless of position. The lessons may feel foreign but makes sense for building people that can learn to build high quality products.
