The art is beautiful, but I didn't enjoy the story as much. A bit too dark, grimy and complicated for my taste. The matriarchy was interesting, although I don't think I noticed much of 1900's asia... But it's not like I know anything about 1900's Asia, haha. After I had worked my way to the end I did end up liking it. If I can find the next volume from my library I'll read it.
