The story starts to get seriously dark. I'm not sure if it's good bedtime reading material for the six-year-old anymore... Too much death. But we'll see. While the first book already had some pretty dark undercurrents, with Voldemort trying to kill Harry and all, the wizardly world is getting more and more unpleasant in every book.

If you really consider it, it's actually quite far from a jolly utopia – the wizard world is rather disturbed place. For example this: there are not many wizards in the whole UK, since Hogwarts seems to be the only school for wizard kids and gets, what, 50-60 students per year? So we're talking about a rather small population. So, what they do? They distribute that small student group into four houses and do everything they can to instill bitter, violent rivalry between those houses. Because, you know, having 50-60 kids that would love to cooperate and work together for a better future and so on would just be impossible to even think about. Better to divide and conquer! That's some pretty grim and sick stuff, really.
